Funerals

The loss of a loved one can be a difficult time, and we’re here to offer help, comfort and support.

Funerals are normally booked through a Funeral Director who will then get in touch with us to pass on your details and one of the clergy team will be in touch to discuss the service.

What happens at a Church Funeral?

Christian Funeral Services are filled with hope. We believe that through Jesus we can share in everlasting life and so, whilst the loss of a loved one is hard, the service is not bleak.

Funeral services usually include the remembering of the person who has died, through a Tribute or Eulogy, readings from the Bible, prayers (relating to the deceased person and to their family and friends), and hymns or other music. At the end of the service the person will be Commended to God and then the Committal will either then take place at the graveside or at a Crematorium.

Churchyards

Those who live in the Ministry Area or who have a connection to one of our Churches are entitled to be buried in our churchyards. Whilst many are now running out of space for full burials we are still burying cremated remains in many of them.

Please get in touch to enquire about burying a loved one in one of our churchyards.
