Because we are a family of churches working together, representatives from across our churches meet together to form the Ministry Area Council (MAC). The MAC (formerly known as the PCC) meets quarterly to discuss issues that affect the whole of the Ministry Area. They make strategic decisions such as agreeing large amounts of spending, giving approval for major works to be undertaken to our buildings or grounds (which then go to the Diocesan faculty system). They also discuss matters such as mission, outreach and ensure we’re staying in tune with the wider Diocese.
Some of their work (such as property, finance and safeguarding) is devolved to sub-committees made up of members of the MAC and others with expertise in those areas. These discuss the issues and opportunities in their particular area, make recommendations and report back to the MAC for decision.
The Ministry Area Council are also the trustees who are legally responsible for ensuring that whatever the churches do is financially prudent and legally compliant.
The Council is made up of the clergy team, representatives from across the churches and co-opted members such as the treasurer and secretary. It is chaired by the Ministry Area Leader and the Lay Co-Chair. The details of our current MAC members are below.
