Worship

We gather every Sunday at 11am to worship God together in word and song. On the 1st, 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month this is centred around the Eucharist as we gather around God’s table.
On the 3rd Sunday of the month we have our All Age Worship where the service is more creative and interactive, suitable for any age.

Our Mid-Week Eucharist takes place every Wednesday at 10am and is a simpler version of our Sunday service without hymns.

Map & Accessibility

Parking – Either in the car park at the end of the village square or there’s some space by the church centre behind the church.

Churchyard – The paths from both entrances are flat.

Church – There is level access into the building and space for wheelchairs in the south aisle.

Toilets – There are toilets behind the church and an accessible toilet in the church centre.

History

The oldest parts of the church in Magor are the chancel and tower which date from the 13^th and 14^th centuries, although a church is purported to have been founded here as early as the 7^th century by Cadwaladr Fendigaid who was a Welsh prince.

The large nave with both north and south aisles was rebuilt in the 15^th century. The elaborate north porch was added possibly as late as 1510-1520 and it can be seen how the north aisle had to be adapted to allow for the addition of the porch. The porch has a room above, sometimes called a parvise or priests room. It later served as the village school and still retains its fireplace!

Other features of note are the 15^th century font, the fine stone vaulted ceiling of the porch and the stained glass windows, including one by Kemp, whilst modern glass in the south chancel window is a most attractive addition. The tower contains a ring of six bells dating from various periods from the 18^th century to as recent as 1985. They were re-hung in 1979, in a completely new frame and fittings and are rung regularly.
